Don’t want to spend $200 or more on trendy metallic denim? DIY!

Inspired by my creative cousin, Rebecca, constructing your own metallic pant is an easy and fun way to stay trendy without breaking the bank.

Need: Acrylic paint (silver, gold, etc), Soft gel gloss, and a foam paint brush.

Directions: Use 1/3 soft gel gloss, 2/3 acrylic paint and mix both together in a plastic container. Paint one coat ~~(maybe two)~~ smoothly onto an old pair of jeans ~~(I prefer black)~~ and than dab your brush all over to create a more texturized look.

Let dry for one hour… than flip over to paint the other side! Once they’re dry they’re ready to wear!

Note: Wait one week to wash after paint application for best results, and wash inside out.

Try pairing these with a simple black or white top. With vibrant pants… sometimes less is more!

“What to Pack”

Thanksgiving break might be your first trek back to home in awhile. Turkey Day vacation offers the perfect amount of time to catch up with your family and high school friends… and of course exchange all those pieces of clothing left at home, for the things you don’t need.

Here is a list of what you can pack for home, what to leave at home, and the trends to bring back to school!

To Wear At Home: One light jacket. There’s no need to bring home your cutest bomber jacket, military style parka, AND trench coat — just pick the one that goes best with everything.

Just one or two pairs of jeans, & leather pants?

A nice casual dress. It’s always fun to have an excuse to get a little fancy. (For me, I’ll probably stick to a dressed up sweater and leather pants.)

A cute pair of sweatpants, or lulu’s… something casually cute to hang with home friends.

A cardigan. - Or sweaters to layer with.. Chances are you’ll have a lot of catching up to do and you’ll need easy outfits.

To Leave At Home: Summer dresses. Or anything that is pastel, floral, or patterned. (New clothes for a new season!)

Sandals. There’s no chance you’ll be rocking strappy footwear in the middle of January.

Denim cutoffs.

To Bring Back: Scarves galore. Nothing makes the chilly walk to your 8 a.m. class more bearable than a big, cozy scarf. (gloves, hats?)

Boots. If your parents offer to do a little shopping before you head back to school, boots are the perfect necessary splurge.

Graphic sweaters. Oversized, retro prints are the sweater trend for fall, so raid your mom’s closet for awesome pieces from the ’80s.

Winter coat?

AND…Leftovers. If you can find a way to keep them fresh on your return trip, stock up! Your roommates will thank you!!
